The World of Short Films

Cinemisto started as a personal project for Jack Sommer to look at the world of his favorite movies through cinematography. While that will continue more, the focus is now currently a study of short films in particular.

The reason behind this is that Sommer sees a gap in the publishing, curation, and true featuring of interesting short films. There are certain sites that feature some, but they never really go in-depth at all or talk with the people who make them. That was also part of the idea for this new focused aspect of the site, to actually interview the people behind the work.

While feature films are incredible and undeniably crucial, that's not a reason why the art of the short film should not be appreciated as well as it's own form.

Shorts may be made from people just getting into film, people who are trying to showcase their talents to later make a feature, people who want to just make shorts alone, established directors (such as Wes Anderson), or just people who want to try out a new medium. No matter, they all have their own merit of importance.
